Working with characters and storylines in my old “Blockade Boy” blog gave me the confidence and experience I needed to take on a comic strip. From the start I knew that I wanted to collect my strip in a book -- that’s how I decided on the six-panel comic book-type format. I scan the inked images into my computer and add text with Adobe Illustrator. Before the great art style upheaval of January 2009, I inked all of the strips
with a brush. I was never totally happy with this initial art style. It felt too tight and formal, somehow.
